National Drug Control Agency agents have arrested a man who had US$560,000 stored in a hidden compartment in his Kia SUV. The man, whose name has not been disclosed, was arrested after being followed by the agents in Santo Domingo’s Naco sector. According to reports, the agents shot at his vehicle and deflated the tires in order to apprehend the suspect. The arrest, which took place yesterday, Tuesday 15 October, was made in the presence of prosecutor Manuel de la Cruz Paredes in coordination with the US Drug Enforcement Administration. The money was found in a hidden compartment. The man had a Smith & Wesson 357 Magnum in his possession without a legal permit. Several mobile phones, credit cards and other documents were also retained.
