Record users of the metro

Dominicans are using the two Santo Domingo metro lines much more than was expected. OPRET (metro office) deputy director Leonel Carrasco says that more cars needed to be added due to the increase in the number of passengers using the service. He said that Opret had expected 135,000 people to travel on the Metro, but more than 200,000 are using it on a regular basis. He said that on Monday, 14 October the metro transported a record 214,244 passengers. He said that each unit would be increased from three to five cars. Carrasco said they planned to build five more metro stations before the end of the Medina administration.
