Haitians growing marijuana

Speaking at a graduation ceremony for 50 new agents yesterday, Thursday 17 October, the president of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) Major General Julio Cesar Souffront Velazquez, said that investigations have shown that Haitians are being employed in the cultivation of marijuana in the country.

Souffront Velazquez was referring to the confiscation of 693 marijuana plants from a farm in the La Cuaba area in Bani municipality.

He said he could not give any more details about those involved as the public prosecution service had asked him not to, but that there had been more significant successes against drug trafficking throughout the country.
