The Pan American Badminton Championships are taking place in Santo Domingo starting today, Monday 21 and continuing through Sunday 27 October. The event encompasses the 18th Pan American Badminton Championships Team Event (21-23 Oct) and the 18th Pan American Badminton Championships Individual Event (24-27 October).
In men’s singles, the best player is William Cabrera (ranked 212th) and Nelson Javier (ranked 217th), in women’s singles, Beronica Vibieca, ranked 159th, is the top seeded Dominican athlete. The Dominican Badminton Federation is organizing the event that is taking place at the Palacio de los Deportes, at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center.
Nine teams are taking part in the team competitions:
Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, United States and host Dominican Republic.
In the individual events, 12 countries are represented: Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru, United States, Cuba, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and host Dominican Republic,
