Investors headed for Punta Cana for CHICOS 2013

The HVS Caribbean, Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) and Caribbean Tourism Organization 2013 Investment Conference is being held in Punta Cana from 6-7 November. The event also has the backing of the National Hotel & Tourism Organization (Asonahores). This is the first time the two leading regional tourism organizations come together with HVS to produce the region’s premier event to discuss opportunities for hotel and resort investment, development and acquisition.

The conference will take place at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana. Organizers expect more than 1,000 participants from abroad and the Dominican Republic, including representatives of leading hotel chains.

“The Dominican Republic needs to attract more tourism investments to meet the goal of 10 million tourists set by President Danilo Medina, and this conference is a step in that direction,” said Asonahores president Luis Emilio Rodriguez.

The local advisory committee members are Simon Suarez, a former president of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association and member of the board of directors of Asonahores.

Parris Jordan, HVS director general for the Caribbean and executive director of CHICOS, highlighted that this is the first time that HVS has partnered with CHTA and CTO to organize the conference. He said the plans are for the event to be held every year, merging with the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Investment Conference previously organized by CHTA.

Now in its third year, the HVS Caribbean Hotel Investment Conference and Operations Summit (CHICOS) is providing a productive forum to address issues pertinent to the current needs of the Caribbean hospitality sector and opportunities for investors in the region.

HVS is the world’s leading hospitality consulting and valuation firm. CHICOS 2013 follows the HVS tradition of organizing major hotel conferences around the world, including the NYU Hospitality Investment Conference in New York and annual conferences in China, India, South America and Mexico.
