In Santiago, the Leones del Escogido won their game with the Aguilas Cibaenas, 8-0, with the Aguilas suffering their first defeat of the season yesterday evening, Wednesday 23 October. The Leones used six pitchers that were supported by 4 for 4 hitting by rookie Gregory Polanco, including a homerun, a double and two RBIs. The Leones climbed into second place with a 3-2 record so far this season.
In Santo Domingo, the Tigres de Licey celebrated the 58th anniversary of the opening of the Estadio Quisqueya with a victory over the Estrellas Orientales who once again failed to keep a lead. Licey was helped by a grand-slam homerun by designated hitter Anderson Hernandez. This was the fourth victory in a row for the Tigres who are now tied with the Aguilas in first place at 4-1.
In La Romana the Gigantes del Cibao defeated the Toros del Este by a score of 7-2. This was the first victory for the Gigantes in this year’s tournament.
