The Superintendent of Labor Health and Risks (Sisalril) and the government medical center, Centro Cardio-Neuro-Oftalmologico y Transplante (Cecanot) have decided to offer surgical services to patients from the National Health Insurance program (SENASA) subsidized regime. Fernando Caamano and Dr. Federico Nunez met and Caamano demanded that Cecanot provide laser surgery services to cataract patients who were covered by the Senasa subsidized regime. Earlier this week there were complaints that the clinic was refusing to provide this minimum invasive surgery to cataract patients. Dr. Nunez told Listin Diario reporters that the center would provide this service at a cost of RD$24,000 and that he would present the package to the director of Senasa since this surgery costs that much in doctor’s fees alone. He said that they have 32 patients on a waiting list and that they are performing the operations anyway.
