El Caribe newspaper’s page two editorial commentary today, Friday 25 October, makes the point that the fast pace of Haitian immigration is causing major security problems.
“Those that are politicizing the inevitable regularizing of the presence of illegal Haitians have to understand some of the reasons. Most of the immigrants arrive without a name and choose any one when they are here. There is no registry of them here or in Haiti. Some commit crimes and there is no way to arrest them,” says the note.
“Yesterday a Haitian killed a Dominican in Batey Ocho of Cristobal, in Independencia. Teuddy A. Sanchez of El Nacional reports: ‘The police authorities identified the killer only with the nickname of Euri, who allegedly fled to Haiti after committing the crime’.”
