The Ministry of Labor has announced 12 official holidays in 2014. These in turn will create five major long weekends, when official holidays fall within the week. For the lucky few who can take extra time off, the holidays to watch for are Our Lady of Altagracia in January, Easter in April, Labor Day in May, Corpus Christi in June, Constitution Day in November, Christmas Day in December and New Year’s Day in January 2015. These are peak travel times so anyone planning vacations in Dominican resorts should make reservations in time.
