Three young people died on the afternoon of Saturday 2 November on the road from San Pedro de Macoris to La Romana when their SUV hit a heavy goods vehicle near the bridge over the River Soco.
They were named as Erick Pena Cabrera, 21, Carlos Ernesto Grullon, 22 and Jonathan Cabrera Blanco, also 21. Cabrera Blanco was the son of the vice president of the PRD and Council spokesman for the National District local authority, Cesar Cabrera. The three were headed to the Luis Miguel concert in Altos de Chavon.
Metropolitan Transport Authority (Amet) spokesman Roberto Lebron said that the young men were traveling in a white Hyundai Tucson that hit a truck driven by Elias Reyna Santos, 47, who was taken to Antonio Musa hospital in San Pedro de Macoris.
President Danilo Medina sent Cesar Cabrera his condolences for the death of his son.
