Bill for toll use passes to Senate

The Chamber of Deputies has passed the trust company contract that allows the money from highway tollbooths, for use in road maintenance and construction throughout the country to be managed by the governmental BanReservas bank’s new Sociedad Fiduciaria Reservas. The bill will now proceed to the Senate.

President of the Chamber of Deputies Abel Martinez said that this contract would guarantee a more transparent way of using the resources for road maintenance. The president of the Treasury Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Marino Collante said that the money from the tolls would be used exclusively to maintain the road system and other related services such as safety and signage.
