With three days of introductory fresh food sales, the newly built Merca Santo Domingo wholesale market will open to the general public tomorrow, Thursday, 7 November. The market will remain open through Saturday, 9 November from 7am to 4pm. Customers will be able to purchase products at wholesale prices direct from the producers. The general administrator of the market, Eusebio Guzman, said that after that the market would be open to the general public one week a month. 280 vendors have stalls at the wholesale market, the largest to serve the country. The project was conceived during the Hipolito Mejia presidency (2000-2004) and was built with funding from Spain.
