Wind farm in Bani

Peravia will soon have its own wind farm once the giant towering energy-producing steel windmills are erected in the new Matafongo Wind Farm between the communities of Villa Fundacion (Matanzas), Arroyo Hondo and Calderas in the southwestern province of Peravia. The project calls for a total private investment of US$80.9 million.

Participants in the project are the Grupo Eolico Dominicano, C. por A., CO2 Global Solutions International S.A. of the nited Kingdom and Electrabel NV/SA of France.

The plan is to install 17 wind turbines with the capacity to generate 30.6MW of power at 1.8MW each. The Vestas turbines will be mounted on an 80m steel tower and will have a rotor diameter of 90m.

The facility will be connected to the Dominican Republic grid through the Interconnected National Electric System (Sistema Electrico Nacional Interconectado, SENI). A 138 KV transmission line is under construction to connect to the existing line at Km 19 of the Bani-Azua expressway.
