The European Union head of Delegation in the Dominican Republic, Alberto Navarro says that the EU does not plan to send a mission to the country to investigate the Constitutional Court ruling 168-13, as requested by the Haitian government, according to El Dia. He said that the Brussels position is that human rights should be adhered to, as President Danilo Medina himself has stated. He said the European Union would wait for the Central Electoral Board (JCE) to establish the number of people who will be affected by the ruling and that the issue should be resolved in an environment of moderation and dialogue.
Yesterday, 7 November, the Central Electoral Board gave a preliminary number of 13,672 Haitians those that were irregularly registered. The individual cases will now be audited.
