Administrative Minister of the Presidency Jose Ramon Peralta said that the extension of the John F. Kennedy Metro line would have to wait until the 2015 budget. He said the government preferred to prioritize a wage increase for public hospital doctors. The Metro 2 East had requested an allocation of RD$4 billion, but the Presidency assigned the metro RD$2 billion in the bill originally presented to the Senate, which later was cut by another RD$800 million to make assignments to higher priority areas. Leonel Carrasco, deputy director of the Metro (Opret office) said that they would lobby the Chamber of Deputies and the President for the approval of the extension. Carrasco said that the RD$1.2 billion allotted is but the sum generated by the fares from around 200,000 daily trips.
Carrasco announced that the Metro would be selling 10 fares for RD$185 and 20 fares for RD$360. He also announced the introduction of a RD$95 multi-trip day pass.
