The National Drug Control Department (DNCD) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Airport Corporation of the East (CAE) to consolidate the fight against drug trafficking at Punta Cana International Airport. The agreement was signed by Major General Julio Cesar Souffront Velazquez for the DNCD and Frank Rainieri for the CAE. The public-private cooperation seeks to consolidate tools to fight drug trafficking at the terminal that receives the majority of passengers in the DR and has flights to 58 destinations around the world. The CAE donated 12 K-9 dogs to strengthen detection and prevention. The CAE will also build 16 cages, and cover veterinarian services and logistics for the dog patrol.
