Should President Medina respond directly to Gonsalves?

The Dominican government limited itself to responding via a press release circulated by the Ministry of Foreign Relations describing the letter written by the Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves calling for the Dominican Republic to revoke the decision to regularize immigrants as “inappropriate and lacking any legal basis.”

In today’s Diario Libre, Friday 15 November, the editorialist is critical of the way the government has dealt with the letter that demands the government revoke the Constitutional Court ruling. Editorialist Adriano Miguel Tejada writes that Gonsalves is championing a bid by small islands to seek compensation for slavery during the colonial period and this new move is part of the plan.
