President Danilo Medina was in Santo Domingo East to inaugurate the new offices of the National Cooperative for Multiple Service for Teachers (Coopnama) yesterday, Monday 25 November 2013.
Valentin Medrano, president of the Coopnama board, asked his members to join the “Qusiqueya Learns With You” National Literacy Plan. He said that the cooperative had invested around RD$28 million in the program that seeks to teach everyone in the Dominican Republic to read and write.
The new Coopnama office is located on San Isidro Highway in Santo Domingo East, has four floors and covers an area of 4,850 square meters.
Father Gregorio Alegria blessed the new premises during the ceremony that was also attended by Deputy Radhames Camacho, Santo Domingo East mayor Juan de los Santos, the administrative president of the Institute of Cooperative Development and Credit, Pedro Corporan, and the Coopnama Credit Committee president, Juan Bautista Baez.
