Today, Thursday 28 November, Thanksgiving Day in the United States, will be the day that the Dominican Baseball Team, the winners of this year’s World Baseball Classic, will receive their rings and hold a parade and celebration in Santo Domingo. President Danilo Medina will present the rings and the party will be held in the Quisqueya Baseball Stadium, starting at 7:30 tonight.

Exciting baseball last night, Wednesday 27 November with the Leones del Escogido winning 5-1 over the Estrellas and reaching 20 victories this season to lead the league. Eduard Valdez pitched a great game and Wilkin Castillo hit a big home run for the Leones.
In the Quisqueya Baseball Stadium in Santo Domingo a wild pitch by Willy Paredes allowed Engel Beltre to walk and force in Pedro Sosa with the winning run as the Tigres del Licey beat the Gigantes del Cibao 4-3. The victory put an end to the seven-game winning streak of the Gigantes who have climbed from the cellar into a playoff position.
In the Estadio Cibao, in Santiago, a dramatic pair of homeruns in the bottom half of the ninth inning allowed the Aguilas Cibaenas to defeat the Toros del Este 6-5. The Toros had takes a 5-4 advantage in the top of the last inning and Mike Bianucci tied the game with a monstrous drive over the left field fence. Then came Francisco Pena, who was hitless in more than a dozen appearances, and he drove a line drive into the left field bleachers for his first walk off homerun of the season.
