The Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) ordered the suspension of Gabriel Antonio Mora (Canoa) from his role as director of the municipal district of Cabarete until there is a definitive ruling on accusations for misuse of RD$185 million during his 2006-10 term of office. The judgment ordered Raquel Sierra Valdez, deputy director of the municipal district to be sworn in as acting director. The decision was taken when Sierra Valdez filed a suit after the Cabarete board chose not to suspend Canoa when he was sent to trial for the criminal accusations.
