Human Rights checking out the country

A delegation of high-ranking government officials, headed by Presidency Minister Gustavo Montalvo met with the mission from the Inter-American Commission for Human Rights (IAHRC) that is currently visiting to the country at the Presidential Palace yesterday, Monday 2 December.

The IAHRC delegates are in the Dominican Republic to learn about the effects of the Constitutional Court ruling on nationality on illegal immigrants and their children and the National Plan to Legalize Foreigners. Montalvo said that the results of their meetings would be made public on Friday, 6 December.

Acting Foreign Relations Minister Jose Manuel Trullols, Luis Vargas, Josue Fiallo and Henry Molina were also present at yesterday’s session.

The IAHRC was represented by their president Jose de Jesus Orozco, Rosa Maria Ortiz, Dinah Shelton, Emilio Alvarez Icaza, Catalina Botero, Inelda Gonzalez, Alvaro Botero, Sofia Galvan, Elizabeth Abi-Mershed, Rosa Marie Belle, Felipe Gonzalez and Tracy Robinson.
