Dead pilots were US citizens

The pilot and co pilot killed of IBC Airways cargo flight that crashed on its way to the San Juan international airport (SJU) in Puerto Rico from Las Americas Airport on Monday, 2 December have been identified as US citizens J. Mclaughlin and S. Gilbert. The two bodies were found on 9:25am yesterday, Tuesday, 3 December.

A local aviation source said that they died when the Swearingen Metro cargo plane caught fire near Sabana Hoyos in Arecibo in Puerto Rico. Residents in the area reported hearing an explosion. The aircraft wreckage was located in steep forested terrain near a cemetery between Florida and Arecibo.

The accident happened at 8:15 on Monday evening, 2 December.

The twin-engine cargo plane flew daily flights between Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic.
