Baseball Roundup

Last night, Wednesday 4 December, the Tigres del Licey won their game against the Toros del Este with a dramatic tenth inning triple by Emilio Bonifacio that drove in two runs. The game was played in the Francisco Micheli Stadium in La Romana.

In Santiago’s Estadio Cibao, the Aguilas Cibaenas beat up on the hapless Estrellas Orientales 13-4. Santana, Luna and Marte all hit homeruns for the Aguilas and Dustin Robinson pitched five good innings for the home team. The game was pretty much decided in the first inning when Danny Santana began a six-run first inning with a homerun, and he was followed shortly thereafter by Hector Luna who hit a two-run homerun as part of a six-hit, six-run attack. Later on, Andy Marte connected a three-run homerun to put the game completely out of reach.

In Santo Domingo, the Leones del Escogido defeated the Gigantes del Cibao by a score of 6-1, behind the excellent pitching of Carlos Pimentel who worked six very good innings for the Scarlets. Erick Gonzalez and Pedro Ciriaco led the Leones to their 24th victory of the season and kept the team in first place, a game ahead of the Aguilas.
