US donates 911 equipment worth US$6 million

A commission from the United States Embassy visited President Danilo Medina yesterday, Wednesday 4 December and announced the donation of equipment for use in the country’s 911 emergency system. The commission was headed by Daniel Foote, who delivered the good news to the Presidential Minister Gustavo Montalvo. According to El Nuevo Diario, the equipment consists of the latest generation servers, LED monitors, a backup data system, data transmission equipment and portable computers. The equipment came through Customs yesterday and was the first of four shipments, which will also include 200 security cameras.
