Dominican to go to US to face trial

Three Dominicans who are due to be extradited to the United States have told a judge in the National District that they are prepared to go willingly to face the charges against them.

After asking to go voluntarily, Luis Estevez, Jose Luis Mejia and Adriano Cecilio Gonzalez Santos are now waiting for the paperwork to be sent to their lawyers in the United States.

They will now be moved from the jail at the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) headquarters to a normal prison until they leave the country.

Mejia and Santos, who were on the run, are being charged with the death of Teodoric Dasilva in New Jersey and has been wanted by the US authorities since September 2006.
