The Tax Office (DGII) has announced the figures for the month of November and year to date 2013 showing that taxes collected in the month of November are RD$24.5 billion which represents an increase of RD$3.2 billion over last year. This includes RD$3,123.24 million from Barrick Gold.
In the year to the end of November total taxes collected totaled RD$257 billion, which is an increase of RD$28.2 billion over last year and is 97.5% of the estimated target.
Over half of the tax collected, some 54%, is indirect, in other words the sales tax paid by consumers n ITIBIS. This is higher than last year when it stood at 45%.
