Judge Andres Rijo Delgado of La Altagracia has announced the revocation of the search warrant against the president of the Spanish business group Globalia, Juan Jose Hidalgo (Pepe), after accepting that his court summons was not delivered to his Madrid address. The company operates BeLive hotels and Air Europa to the Dominican Republic. As reported in the Spanish press, a new date for a court hearing was set for 4 February 2014. The dispute involves a beach section in Cabeza de Toro in front of the Belive Punta Cana. Businessman Sandalio Suarez says he is the owner of the lot. He said he paid US$550 for it in 1988. Hidalgo said he would be in the DR over Christmas. He said he is consul for the Dominican Republic in Palma de Mallorca, so the court had a way of delivering the summons. He said the businessman demands US$27.5 million in compensation and RD$2.7 million in other damages in the case. Hidalgo says that what is clear is an intention of blackmail with the court summons.
