President Medina opens new commercial plaza in San Francisco de Macoris

President Danilo Medina was in San Francisco de Macoris yesterday, Thursday 19 December 2013 to open a city shopping center. The old city market has been turned into the Plaza Comercial after a fire affected the installations.

The work was completed in record time of seven months and cost RD$119 million. It has three floors and 38 stores on the first and second levels. Government offices for Duarte province are located on the third floor.

President Medina and representatives of the municipal authorities were present when Monsignor Fausto Mejia, bishop for San Francisco de Macoris, gave the symbolic blessing. They were accompanied by the Senator for Duarte province Amilcar Romero, governor Miledys Nunez and San Francisco de Macoris mayor Felix Rodriguez.
