The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) announces the arrival of a new cold front that will lower temperatures and bring scattered showers starting today, Thursday 26 December. The showers will occur mostly in the east, north, and northwest and central regions. The rains are expected to fall mostly in the east during the afternoon.
Onamet adds that the low-pressure system will be leaving the area as the cold front moves in and remains until Friday, 27 December. The winds will continue from the east-northeast. As a result of all of this movement, the increased humidity and cloud cover over the northwest and the northern coastal plains will see more frequent rains.
Lows of 20C are forecast for Santo Domingo and Punta Cana, and 18C for Santiago. By noon the temperatures warm up to 28-29C.
