Free zones employ 140,000 more

The National Union of Free Zone Workers says that the sector grew significantly in 2013, creating 140,000 new jobs in some 580 companies in the free zones. Speaking at the Christmas celebration organized by the union for its members in Santiago, general secretary Carlos Reyes said that he hoped this growth would continue into 2014, as reported in Listin Diario. Reyes said that a Chinese company was going to be installed in the Tamboril Free Zone this year with the creation of 11,000 news jobs.
