Elton John at Altos de Chavon

Count the days. Iconic singer and composer Elton John will soon be taking the stage of Altos de Chavon in La Romana for the first time on Friday, 28 February. Thursday, the 27th is a holiday in the DR so many will be taking that Friday off too. Over the weekend, Dominican fans learned that Elton John travels with his own piano that needs to be transported on a private jet and is valued at US$1 million.

Emil Ysona of Acego, the concert organizers, said that if the piano is damaged in any way en route, the concert will be cancelled. The announcement about the piano makes local fans aware about the piano that was especially designed for him by Yamaha in 2011 and around which he has built his newest greatest hits concert that first opened in Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace in 2011.

The piano is a Yamaha Grand that took four years to build and contains 68 LED video screens. During the show, images are projected on a giant screen and are matched by identical images on the piano.

Tickets for the concert are US$140 general admission, US$230 VIP and US$320 special guests and US$500 front stage. They are for sale at uepa tickets.
