Excellent year for BanReservas

The general administrator of the government commercial bank Banco de Reservas (BanReservas) Enrique Ramirez Paniagua says that the bank earned more than RD$5 billion in 2013, which he described as unprecedented in the local financial market. He said that the net profit was RD$1,201.56 million above the budget for the year. This is Ramirez’s first year at the helm of the bank.

He said that the assets grew by 25.3% in 2013, compared to the average of 15.5% and that the defaults on credit cards had dropped significantly, down to 1.9% by the end of the year, when the year before they stood at 5.6%. This is a 66.4% decrease, which he said was an extraordinary improvement.

Ramirez Paniagua said that the challenge for 2014 was to increase staff training, and cut operational costs and other expenses. He said they also wanted to expand into areas where they had no presence and continue to contribute to the national economic development.
