The Virgin Mary in the Americas exhibition is now open at the La Altagarcia Museum at the Basilica Nuestra Senora de la Altagracia in Higuey. The 30 paintings are by Dominican naif painter Jose Morillo and are in different formats. Morillo’s works are exhibited at the Modern Art Museum in Cartagena, Colombia and the Museo del Barrio in New York City, as reported in Diario Libre.
The exhibit also features paintings of the Virgin Mary that are venerated in other Latin American countries, in addition to the Dominican Republic.
