Super Dance to close Jaragua Renaissance

The Jaragua Renaissance Hotel will be celebrating a mega dance-show with Fernando Villalona and Sergio Vargas on 26 April to mark the closing of the hotel and the start of a year-long major renovation. Some US$30 million will be invested in hotel areas and another US$10 million when the renovation of the La Fiesta Theater is also considered. The decorators will incorporate the bohemian style of the original Jaragua Hotel days in the redesign. The hotel was last remodeled in 1998. It boasts the largest rooms in the city. The hotel seeks to attract meetings, conventions, incentives and events when it reopens in 2015.

The closing of the Jaragua will coincide with the opening of the new remodeled Santo Domingo Sheraton sections also on the Malecon and the JW Marriott on Av. Winston Churchill.

Fernando Villalona and Sergio Vargas are two of the best merengue orchestras in the Dominican Republic. The winner of the Salsa music of the year, Yiyo Sarante, will also be entertaining the audience with his unique brand of salsa. And Joe Veras, of El Chuchicheo-fame, will be the bachata representative. Urban music will be on the stage too with Los Teke Teke. Tickets for the dance are RD$1,200, RD$700 (balcony), RD$2,000 platinum. For reservations and to book tickets, call 809 221-1414.
