The president elect of Costa Rica, Luis Guillermo Solis, met with President Danilo Medina at the Presidential Palace as a final stop of his tour to personally invite regional presidents to his inaugural on 8 May. He had earlier visited Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Panama.
When receiving President-elect Solis, Medina was accompanied by Vice President Margarita Cedeno and Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso. Victor Barrantes, an expert on regional integration issues and Costa Rica ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Jose Rafael Torres Castro, also attended.
During his brief trip to the Dominican Republic, Solis also visited former President Leonel Fernandez at Funglode. Solis said that he has maintained a friendship over the years with the former President.
