Travel to DR up 14.5% in April

The Central Bank reports that the number of tourist arrivals to the Dominican Republic was up by 56,433 foreign non-resident visitors in April, for a total of 445,018 travelers in the month, up 14.5% when compared to the same month in 2013. The main reason was the strong growth in European arrivals during the period.

Likewise, Dominican non-resident arrivals was up 18.8% in April. This is explained because Easter Week was in April this year. Last year it was in March.

Travel in the first quarter of the year is up 6.1%, with 1,841,675 travelers, including 106,037 more than during the same first four months in 2013.
