The Central Electoral Board (JCE) reports that 854,781 citizens had renewed their identification cards (cedula) as of Wednesday, 17 June 2014. JCE president Roberto Rosario said that a further 26,000 cards are ready for collection. He announced that the millionth citizen who applies for renovation would receive a free computer and tuition payment for a year. The process has been underway for two months. Rosario said that more than a million people have visited the JCE offices to get the new card.
