President Medina congratulates new King of Spain

In a letter dated 20 June 2014, President Medina sent his congratulations to the new king and queen, Felipe and Letizia. His father, King Juan Carlos abdicated on Thursday, 18 June after a 39-year reign. The new King of Spain, Felipe VI had last visited the Dominican Republic in August 2012 for President Danilo Medina’s inauguration ceremony.

“We are confident that your outstanding training for such an important task, the vigor of your youth and the high values that distinguish you as a human being will be decisive factors in ensuring the success of your new role, as the continuation of the democratic principles held in Spain by His Majesty Don Juan Carlos I,” reads President Medina’s message to the new Spanish King.
