Hotel occupancy great in Punta Cana

Most hotels in Punta Cana are new or have been refurbished, and rates are hard to beat in the Caribbean. As a result, occupancy remains high along the eastern beach strip. Ernesto Veloz, president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism Projects for the East forecasts that by the year’s end around three million air arrivals will have visited on beach vacations.

Veloz says that this year has been the best in the past 10 years in terms of occupancy. He told Hoy reporters that there has been no slow season this year.

Arrivals headed for Punta Cana hotels make up 65% of all tourists coming to the DR, estimated at around five million for 2014.
