Andres Navarro is new Foreign Relations Minister

Longtime secretary general of the City Government of Santo Domingo (ADN), architect Andres Navarro has been appointed as the new Minister of Foreign Relations of the Dominican Republic. He replaces businessman Carlos Morales Troncoso, who resigned for health reasons.

Andres Navarro worked at the Santo Domingo City Government (ADN) for 12 years. When he resigned from the city government in April 2014, he said he maintained a close relationship with mayor Roberto Salcedo and the city government technical team.

He also served as director of Urban Planning, and technical secretary at the city government.

In Decree 332-14 issued yesterday, Monday 15 September 2014, President Danilo Medina designated the Acting Minister of Foreign Relations Jose Manuel Trullols as his foreign policy advisor.

In the same decree, President Medina appointed Luis Armando Asuncion as Banking Superintendent, replacing Rafael Camilo.

With Decree 328-14, the President sent Rafael Ovalles to head the National Technical and Professional Training Institute (Infotep).

Decree 332-14 also appointed Emilio Olivo as director of the Dominican Agrarian Institute (IAD), Radhames Valenzuela as deputy minister of Agriculture, Claudio Jimenez as administrator of Mercadom, and Claudio Pena as director of the National Land Registry (Catastro).

In Decree 333-14, the President appointed Mayobanex Escoto to be director of the Dominican Port Authority, replacing Ramon Rivas, Roger Jovert as president of the Civil Aviation Board replacing Luis Rodriguez Ariza, Juan Rodriguez Nina as president of the National Energy Commission and Enrique Ramirez as renewable energy advisor to the Executive Branch.

Josefina Marmolejos is to become deputy director of the National Land Registry, Roberto Cordones deputy minister of Interior and Police, Cesar Lopez to the Central Office of Road and Bypass Improvements, replacing Roberto Cordones.

Maria Cleofa Sanchez is appointed as director of Santo Domingo Mirador del Norte, Julio Almonte becomes deputy minister of Tourism for Puerto Plata and the northern region taking over from Cesar de los Santos, Franklin Mayreni Castillo is to be deputy minister of Tourism for the northern region taking over from Rafael Baron Duluc, and Jose Valerio will serve as deputy director of the Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD).

Decree 334-14 appointed Jose Hidalgo as chairman of the board of directors of the La Vega Aqueduct, taking over from Francisco Coronado Novar, Grace Moya as advisor to the permanent mission of the Organization of American States, Ernesto Reyna as environmental advisor to the Executive Branch and Ramon Rivas as port issues advisor.

Kenia Lora was appointed to the board of the Banco de Reservas, Martin Zapata as deputy minister of Hacienda, TV presenter Nikauly de la Mota as minister counselor at the Dominican Embassy in Mexico and Eduardo Sanchez as consul general in Miami, taking over from Amaurys Rios.

Decree 329-14 appointed Ramon E. Contreras as head of the Superintendence of (Sipen). Decree 330-14 appoints Esteban Antonio Cruz as Dominican consul in the northern Haitian city of Cap-Haitien.

Carmen Milagros Almonte Blanco becomes consul general in Boston, Adriano Rafael De los Santos Galva will be consul in Barcelona, and Andres Bocio Fortuna is to be minister in charge of Consular Affairs in Belladere, Haiti.

Decree 331-14 designates Marino Castillo Lacay as minister counselor to the Dominican Embassy in Brazil, and Jaime Manuel Antonio Santelises Rodriguez as consul general in Caracas, Venezuela.

More changes are expected today.
