Armed robbers shot a Canadian citizen in his right leg outside the Scotiabank branch at the intersection between Lope de Vega and John F. Kennedy avenues in Santo Domingo yesterday, Monday 15 September 2014.
Raymond Olsen, 59, who owns the Aluminios del Valle company, was taken to the nearby Plaza de la Salud hospital.
Aluminios del Valle spokesman Luis Bernard said the robbers got away with a briefcase containing RD$200,000 in cash. He said that the bank security guards did not help at all during the attack.
Police spokesman Colonel Jacobo Mateo Moquete said that the robbers, who were riding a motorcycle, had followed Olsen from his workplace to the bank.
