President Medina receives award in Rome

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has recognized that the Dominican Republic has reached level C of the First Millennium Development Goal, a year ahead of schedule.

The goal was to reduce the number of people going hungry by half between 1990 and 2015 as part of the first goal, which is to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.

FAO Director General Jose Graziano Da Silva handed over a medal to President Danilo Medina in recognition of the achievement during a ceremony held at the FAO headquarters in Rome yesterday, Monday 29 September 2014.
