The US Embassy has told investigators that the passport a woman named as Rosa Maria Martinez used to rent a Hyundai Santa Fe is false. The car is suspected of having been used for the attack on the Najayo Jail last week. The authorities, nevertheless, have identified the fugitive as Rosa Maria Martinez Hernandez and continue to investigate her whereabouts. A day before the incident, the woman called the dealer to say she had been robbed and injured and was being treated at the Dario Contreras Public Hospital. This also proved to be false. The vehicle was to have been used in the attempted release of inmates in which six people were killed, including two jail staff on Friday, 24 October 2014.
Employees at the car rental agency at Km. 21 of Duarte Highway photographed the woman because they said she appeared nervous when renting the car.
