The Dominican film Sand Dollars (Dolares de arena) has won the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) Award at the 36th Cairo International Film Festival. The film by Israel Cardenas and Laura Amelia Guzman stars Geraldine Chaplin and Yanet Mojica. It tells the story of an older Englishwoman who falls in love with a young Dominican woman who has to struggle to make ends meet.
