Dominican Republic 115 of 174 in Corruption Perceptions Index

According to a new report issued today, Wednesday 3 December 2014 by the NGO Transparency International, Venezuela and Paraguay are seen as the most corrupt countries in Latin American and Uruguay and Chile are the most transparent.

The best countries in the world in terms of corruption perceptions are Denmark, New Zealand and Finland. The worst are Somalia, North Korea and Sudan.

Uruguay and Chile share 21st place in the list of 175 countries with 73 points out of 100, followed by Puerto Rico in 31st place with 63 points and Costa Rica in 47th place with 54 points.

They are followed by Cuba, Brazil, El Salvador, Peru, Columbia, Panama, Bolivia, Mexico and Argentina.

The Dominican Republic is in 115th place of 174 countries alongside Guatemala, both with 32 points. In Latin America, only Guyana, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Haiti were ranked worse in corruption perceptions than the DR.
