Enersulina Cuevas Volquez was identified as the migration inspector who was seriously injured in the head by a rock thrown at the border on Friday, 2 January by a group of Haitians who were trying to enter the country illegally. The Haitians confronted the migration and Cesfront authorities by throwing rocks. The unrest also affected a Haitian legislator who was traveling to the DR at the time and his car was hit by a rock that broke one of the windows. Migration director Jose Ricardo Taveras told the press that security officers acted to bring the situation under control.
