First Lady Candida Montilla de Medina was at the Grand Cibao Theater in Santiago yesterday, Monday 5 January 2015 to watch the Christmas Story as part of the Three Kings Day celebrations along with hundreds of children. While Three Kings Day falls on 6 January, the holiday was moved to the previous Monday.
She also presented toys to the children who took part in the play and spoke about the importance of keeping the tradition of Three Kings Day.
The performance included ballet, music and theater, along with audiovisual effects to show the traditions of Three Kings Day as well as Santa Claus and the birth of Jesus. The producer was Fidel Lopez, director was Enrique Chao, the original music was composed by Frank Ceara and Penbiang Sang, and the screenplay was by Aidita Selman.
The First Lady was accompanied by Provincial Governor Aura Toribio, the president of the Commission for the Reform of Public Companies (CREP) and the Patrimonial Fund of Reformed Businesses (FONPER) Fernando Rosa, as well as Bernarda Checo, Bernadette Bermudez, Margarita Bermudez, Austria de la Rosa Cuevas, Nelsa Chavez, Inmaculada Adam and Nidia Bisono.
