The Medina government says it knows nothing about the supposed visit of President Danilo Medina to Puerto Rico on 13 January 2015 as announced by David Bernier, Secretary of State for Puerto Rico. The Presidential Place has said that the official organization to announce foreign visits of the President is the Ministry of Foreign Relations and said it was an indiscretion on the part of the government of Puerto Rico to make the announcement without going through the proper channels. The Presidential Communications office has said that they have no knowledge of any visit planned by the President to Puerto Rico.
Bernier had announced the visit on Sunday 4 January 2015, saying that President Medina would be accompanied by several members of the government as well as a group of Dominican business representatives. He went on to say that the meeting would take all day and would include the signing of several cooperation agreements that were first discussed in October 2014 involving economic development, job creation and security issues.
