The president of the Dominican Teachers’ Association (ADP), Eduardo Hidalgo, has called on parents, teachers and friends of the schools to send their children to school today, Wednesday 7 January 2015 after the Christmas and New Year holiday.
Hidalgo went on to say that teachers would be receiving a 12% pay rise this year that he hoped would increase to 25% in 2016.
In addition he said that the ADP was working to increase teachers’ pensions from RD$5,000 to RD$15,000 per month.
