The Constitutional Court has ruled that citizens have the right to denounce government officers for misconduct in the execution of their jobs. Ruling TC0259-14 says that citizens can place complaints against public officers for misconduct, crimes and offenses committed. It upholds Art. 22 of the 2010 Constitution that states citizens have the right “to report any act of misconduct committed by public officials in the performance of their duties.”
The Court ruled in response to a request made by Santo Domingo West Mayor Francisco Pena Tavarez.
